Birds have superb eyesight, able to see ultraviolet light and a broad range of colours including subtle hue differences. The magnificent blues of a mature male Superb Fairy-wren for instance, a common bird to Bundanoon and the Southern Highlands, would send an unmistakable signal to both rivals and potential mates.
